Vintage Belly Dance Charlotte Desorgher
Vintage Belly Dance is a programme I have developed for the NBAF.
Join me in exploring the beauty and drama of vintage old school belly dance! We’ll be creating oriental magic with perfumed silk veils, sensual floorwork, juicy taqsims and the mesmerizing rhythms of finger cymbals.
In these fabulous workshops I’ll be taking you back to the timeless days when bellydancers were the ultimate fantasy performers, conveying atmosphere and sensuality. I’ll talk to you about my own first hand experience of the Arab nightclubs in early 1980s London and about the fabulous twelve part AmCab routines performed on the west coast of America.
We’ll learn a luxurious advanced veil choreography, with veil wraps, unveiling and fabulous veil tricks to make your audience’s heart soar. I’ll teach you juicy taqsim technique with attention to detail that is often over looked by many dancers and teachers, using the hypnotic chiftetelli rhythm and incorporating sensual floorwork. We’ll get the rhythms pumping with finger cymbals, and we’ll even learn to flip coins on our bellies like real vintage performers!
Every session will begin with Jazz and Ballet techniques infused into warm ups and we finish with a deep stretch to make sure your body is well primed for the work we’re doing.
We will cover essential material and techniques invaluable to Vintage Belly Dance
You will learn a magical, captivating veil choreography to perform at the National Belly Dance Academy Festival NBAF 2017!
I’ll be drawing on 35 years of experience in belly dance, starting in the early 1980s when I was London’s first ever bellygram, through to today where I’m an internationally renowned teacher, choreographer, innovator and the artistic director of the world-changing theatrical dance group Company of Dreams.
